Creston Lions Club “Students of the Year” Awards

The Creston Lions Club recently recognized an outstanding student from each grade level 7-12 from Norwayne Schools.  The students are chosen based on their academic achievements, character, service, and leadership qualities. The students, their parents, and guests were invited to attend the April 20th meeting of the Creston Lions Club, where a meal was provided.  Lion’s President, Susan Bratcher, presented each Student of the Year recipient with a certificate and an official Lions Club ink pen.  Mr. Kevin Leatherman, Norwayne Middle School principal, read the accomplishments of 7th grader Taylor Reinhart and 8th grader Jacob Rupp. Mrs. Amy Frary, Norwayne High School guidance counselor, read the accomplishments of the high school recipients – 9th grader – Jacob Graham, 10th grader – Trent McCune, 11th grader – Claire Steiner, and 12th grader – Adam Jacobs.

Congratulations to all the Lions Club Student of the Year winners and best of luck in all your future endeavors.

Welcome our newest members

On March 16th, our club experienced our largest membership gain in one evening when five new members joined the Creston Lions Club. Our new members include Helen & Ken Gray & Peggy Bishop all sponsored by Lion Don Abbott, Steven Hoffman sponsored by Lion Jerry Bratcher and Barb Stutler sponsored by her son Keith Haynes. Past District Governor, Phil Jenkins, inducted our new members. President Susan Bratcher made arrangements for a cake to celebrate this momentous event.

Creston Lions Parade of Flags

The Creston Lions will sponsor a Parade of Flags for the village. With a $30.00 subscription the Lions will place a 3′ x 5′ American flag in the front yard of your home or business at each of five holidays. Lions install a buried pipe in your lawn for easy placement of the flag staff and cap the pipe when not in use. Now is your chance to join your neighbors in this special holiday display for Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Patriots Day, and Veterans Day. Applications for the Creston Parade of Flags can be picked up at Pike Station, Creston Library, and City Hall, or see your favorite Lion. You can also download the Application by clicking this link: Creston Parade of Flags Application PDF.
